Happiness Index?

I took this stupid test....and found out that I am less happy than poor people living in most of the world!

I don't see millions of people moving to these "happy" countries...so this test must be rigged to make the U.S. look bad.....and make people living in poor miserably conditions think they are happy?

Personality Test?

If all of the desserts listed below were sitting in front of you, which would you choose. (you can only pick one!)

Trust me...this is very accurate. Pick your dessert, then look to see what psychiatrists think about you.

Here are your choices:

1. Angel Food Cake
2. Brownies
3. Lemon Meringue
4. Vanilla cake with Chocolate Icing
5. Strawberry Short Cake
6. Chocolate on Chocolate
7. Ice Cream
8. Carrot Cake

No, you can't change your mind once you scroll down, so think carefully what your choicewill be....

OK - Now that you've made your choice this is what "research" says about you...

1. ANGEL FOOD CAKE -- Sweet, loving, cuddly. You love all warm and fuzzy items. A little nutty at times. Sometimes you need an ice cream cone at the end of the day. Others perceive you as being childlike and immature at times.

2. BROWNIES -- You are adventurous, love new ideas, are a champion of underdogs and a slayer of dragons. When tempers flare up you whip out your saber. You are always the oddball with a unique sense of humor and direction. You tend to be very loyal.

3. LEMON MERINGUE --Smooth, sexy, & articulate with your hands, you are an excellent after-dinner speaker and a good teacher. But don't try to walk and chew gum at the same time. A bit of a diva at times, but you have many friends.

4. VANILLA CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE ICING -- Fun-loving, sassy, humorous, not very grounded in life; very indecisive and lack motivation. Everyone enjoys being around you, but you are a practical joker. Others should be cautious in making you mad. However, you are a friend for life.

5. STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE -- Romantic, warm, loving. You care about other people, can be counted on in a pinch and expect the same in return. Intuitively keen. Can be very emotional.

6. CHOCOLATE ON CHOCOLATE -- Sexy; always ready to give and receive. Very creative, adventurous, ambitious, and passionate. You can appear to have a cold exterior but are warm on the inside. Not afraid to take chances. Will not settle for anything average in life. Love to laugh.

7. ICE CREAM -- You like sports, whether it be baseball, football, basketball, or soccer. If you could, you would like to participate, but you enjoy watching sports. You don't like to give up the remote control. You tend to be self-centered and high maintenance.

8. CARROT CAKE -- You are a very fun loving person, who likes to laugh. You are fun to be with. People like to hang out with you. You are a very warm hearted person and a little quirky at times. You have many loyal friends.

No wonder I am over 300lbs....I like them all!

Republican or Democrat?

I always thought I was a Centrist .....

I thought when it came to government, it should be a lean, mean fighting machine ....reduced budget, fiscally conservative, strong national defense, and keep out of people's personal life....A real separation of Church and State!

I found a test that measures your "true" political leaning ..... The first time I took the test about (2) months ago, I was leaning Liberal. I just re-took the test and the results were more in the middle

Take the test and understand your political bias, better!

Andy Kaufman

Hypocrite of the Week

Andrew Young, the American civil rights leader who was hired by Wal- Mart Stores to improve its public image, has resigned from that post after telling an African-American newspaper that Jewish, Arab and Korean shop owners had "ripped off" urban communities for years, "selling us stale bread, and bad meat and wilted vegetables."

In the interview, published Thursday in The Los Angeles Sentinel, a weekly, Young said Wal-Mart should displace mom-and-pop stores in urban neighborhoods.

"You see those are the people who have been overcharging us," he said of the owners of the small stores, "and they sold out and moved to Florida. I think they've ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it's Arabs."

There's no place like HELL!

We landed at MIA and got our luggage....after traveling to world class cities and airports....Traveling through MIA is like traveling to a third world country.....The baggage claim area is dirty and seedy....and painfully slow! I guess the handlers need time to rummage through your bag or time to damage it.

Next comes my favorite MIA experience...Taxi cabs.

In Germany, Amsterdam, Austria, Budapest, Prague, Brussels...almost all the Taxi's are nice new Mercedes Benz. If not Mercedes, they have a few cars that are cool for Taxi use (Fiat and VW)..... As in most European cities, the public transportation is easy and efficient.....In cities like Frankfurt and Amsterdam, the city trains can take you from the airport to within a few blocks of any place in the city.

It's not that Miami has a very limited public transportation system or that most of the MIA cabbies are Haitian and play the Haitian talk radio stations (extremely loud), it's getting inside a 1984 Chevy Impala with bad shock absorbers and fearing for my life as they weave through traffic.

To add to the enjoyment of the MIA experience....the never ending road construction. I wish I could find the statistics on how long the toll booth at SR 112 has been under construction and how many times I have been stuck in traffic becasue of it!

A new sign should be posted at the airport......"The lobbyists and corrupt local government of the great city of Miami .....Welcomes you to HELL!"

I haven't even mentioned the terrible dark and dingy parking garages, the silly sky-bridges with moving sidewalks that are inconvenient and difficult to find, the shameful helliport that was built and only used once, or the rigged security bids that required that the security software operated in Japanese to lock-out competitive bids.

What a bad image for the millions of travelers that pass through MIA (including cruise ship passengers) who are terrified to even stay a day in Miami...what a shame!

I guess I am like a frog that was dropped in a pan of water.....someone has turned the stove on, but I have lived here so long, I never felt the heat ....until I traveled to other places!

But Miami is home....and there is no place like home! Now it's time to open mail, pay bills, read the Herald, watch Fox News and WWE in my Lazy Boy, return phone calls, work a little bit, get updated on the latest gossip, and start another diet.....after (5) weeks away.....it is really great to be home on South Beach!

What killed Delta Airlines?

Delta Airlines should be put out of its' misery...

At one time they were an innovator in the passenger airline industry. They were the first airline to introduce Jet Service, and developed the "Hub and Spoke" concept that built Atlanta's Hartfield Airport into the world's busiest Airport.

What killed Delta? After losing millions of dollars for years, management would point the finger at high priced union labor contracts. The Union would point at the over priced Delta management and their bad decisions....but if you ask the traveling public what killed them.....Dirty airplanes, canceled flights due to equipment problems, lost luggage, over crowded Crown First Class Lounges, late flights because the Atlanta "Hub/Spoke" system has too many delays that create nationwide backups, grumpy old flight attendants that wouldn't know the word "Customer Service" if it bit them in the ass, and ticketing agents that only know the words, "Sorry, but we can't do that".

The Delta Crown rooms in Atlanta are crowded and dirty....the bathroom was so filthy yesterday, I left to use a public washroom....

The Atlanta ticket agents are nasty.....and have a "No-can-do" attitude.

But my favorite Delta pet peeve is the Frequent Flier award program....This is the program were they reward their most valuable and loyal customers .... Unfortunately, between blackout dates and limited seat availability, it is nearly impossible to use the award miles.....creating poor customer relations!

Dealing with the traveling public is difficult, dealing with Unions is difficult, dealing with disgruntled employees that have had to take multiple pay cuts over the years is difficult, dealing with the bankruptcy courts is difficult, dealing with the extra burden of security is impossible, revolving door senior management, increased competition, and the final straw of higher oil prices might be the end of Delta Airlines......

Nothing lasts for ever...It may be only a matter of time before Delta either merges with another airline of joins the group of grounded airlines....Pan Am, TWA, Eastern, and National.

Budapest - Turks, Nazi's, Communist, Hezbollah

Budapest had a special meaning for me.....I have been told that my Great, Great Grandfather was a rabbi in Budapest.

Until 1895, Jews were not given many rights in Hungary. They couldn't vote or own property.....but they still managed to build the largest temple in Europe with a population of 700,000 Jews.

Hungary at the turn of the century was a very wealthy nation. They celebrated the 1000 year anniversary of the cities of Buda and Pest....and built the first subway system in Europe. They also decided to end the discrimination against the Jewish people and declared full rights to all Jews.

With all that history, I decided to take the tour of the Jewish temple, cemetery, and the former Jewish ghetto....I was overtaken with emotions...hearing of the horrible treatment from the Turk wars and Hungarian governments over the centuries....Near the end of WWII...many European Jews fled to Hungary in a hope to escape the Nazi death camps....Unfortunately over 600,000 were slaughtered on the banks of the Danube river or sent to concentration camps to work as slave labor and death as part of Hitler's "Final Solution".

During the war, Hungary sided with the Nazi's, so many European synagogues sent their Torah's to Budapest for safekeeping. In 1944, the Nazi's took over Hungary, and used the Temple as a horse stable. A brave Hungarian woman smuggled the Temple's religious artifacts and the (25) hand written Torah's and burred them in the Budapest library basement for safekeeping. The Nazi's plan was to destroy the temple and kill the remaining Jews....but a few days before it was destroyed, the Soviets invaded and drove the Nazi's out...

Although there are great stories of escapes and some fantastic acts of bravery to save thousands of lives, most of the Jewish population were murdered during the war. After the war, many of the survivors left Hungary because they wanted to escape the horrible memories and start a new life. The remaining Jewish population have worked to restore the temple as a monument and museum. Unfortunately, other nearby temples sit vacant because there is no money to restore and not enough Jewish population left to use them.

The Orthodox temple down the street is an unsafe structure, with the roof collapsed....and bullet holes still left in the walls from the Nazi's.....During the Communist regime from 1956 to 1990....many building were untouched because of lack of money and the uncertain policies of the communist government....The war has been over for (60) years.....but the remaining Hungarian Jews are resolved to re-build!

I really fell in love with Budapest....the food, people, history, shopping, and historical sites make it my favorite European city! Hungary has joined the European Union and it's economy is switching to the Euro....it is alive and thriving with Capitalism and Tourism....

Hungary has re-built after losing every war they have fought.....a civilization that has finally learned that war has no winners...after losing to the Turks, WWI, WWII, and the Communists....the survivors must wonder how advanced their culture would have been if it wasn't for all the destruction from wars.....as I sit in my hotel room watching CNN and the Hezbollah terrorists firing rockets at Israel...I wonder why they haven't learned the lessons?

Killing and destruction has no positive outcome..... What did Castro achieve for the Cuban people? What about Arafat? Hitler? Pinochet? Sadam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, Pol Pot in Cambodia, or the dozens of blood thirsty opportunistic that have killed millions throughout Africa? Just a lot of dead innocent women, children, and dreams.

Now we have mad men like the DICTATOR AND SCUMBAG PROPAGANDIST in Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, trying to get nuclear weapons.....Declaring to the world that his goal is to eliminate all Jews.....Where is the world outrage?

I do believe that this is the beginning of WWIII.....A small group of extreme fundalmentalist have hijacked the Muslim world...and feed it Anti-Western world hysterical propaganda through web sites, Mosques, schools, and TV stations....

There economy has 20% un-employment....maybe because they dont have a tourism industry...and they blame there problems on the West.....These extremists have blown up hotels, embassies, airplanes, resorts, trains, subways throughout the world....For the most part, the West has been "inconvenienced" by added security and some of our rights being stripped away....but these extremists will not stop....and it looks like we are headed towards an all out war unless moderate Muslims and new Western leaders (forget about the closed minded Bush regime) can develop common ground to build new peaceful relationships.

Our tour guide told us that there are are now (84) McDonalds in Hungary and she remembered during the Communist days (less than 20) years ago....how there was very little food on the grocery shelves and very little selection....she also remembered waiting in line (6) hours to try a McDonalds hamburger and fries....... Budapest is a shining example of prosperity and success driven by Capitalism and Democratic Free People.....

Unfortunately, I don't see the pudgy Hezbollah leader ever managing a McDonalds or driving a Taxi in Amsterdam...Too bad our cold war CIA hit squads were disbanded by the Democrats...we could use them!

Prague - Best Thai Food in Europe

The best (or worse) part of any vacation is trying new foods....after a few days of Bavarian food, we were more than ready to start searching for Thai Restaurants....

Berlin...had a few good ones.

Amsterdam.....so many tourists, so busy...no one cared about service or quality...and it seemed like they were not authentic "Thai" because of a strong percentage of middle eastern ownership.

Belgium.... what great restaurants.....I ate Mussels ever day...Awesome!

Zurich....we couldn't find any so we ate Italian Food.....Awesome!

Munich....Hui has Thai friends in Munich so we were treated to a few great places....we also found a great Viet Namese Restaurant!

Prague.....to our surprise had the (2) of the best Thai Restaurants we have ever eaten at.....go figure!

Vienna.....hard to believe but also great Sushi and Thai food!

Budapest.....we ate Chinese, Thai, and of course great Hungarian goulash.

Frankfurt....We found a few good Thai restaurants and even went back for late nite Karaoke ...but really enjoyed an Italian place on the Zell.

Munich to Prague

What an experience....you can really sense the difference in the trains and stations as you leave Germany and enter into the former Soviet Empire.....the Czech Republic.......

Along the way, we heard many stories and warnings about crime....lots of scams and pickpockets. When we got to the train station at midnight is was very, very scary ...... the only thing we wanted to do was grab a cab and get to the Hilton...of course we warned that the Taxi's will rip you off also...so we were told to be careful of the taxi and to get a quote for the ride first.....we still got ripped off.....

It is so stupid to rip off tourists.....they are biting the hand that feeds them...Ignorant assholes.

We arrived at the Hilton around 1am...we were starving...so we headed for the 24h snack shop in the Hilton....were we thought we would be safe from the tourist rip-offs.....but to our surprise we really got robbed and ate $22 club sandwich.

Thank goodness we found an awesome Thai restaurant and Thai massage parlor the next day...I needed a good massage after sitting on the train for (6) hours.....the biggest surprise so far has been the Hilton Sauna / Steam baths are co-ed....and nude.....Young guys and girls have no problem walking in and laying down completely nude....it has been quite a (enjoyable) culture shock that has made up for the petty rip-offs!

Trains, Planes, and Automobiles

John Candy and Steve Martin's classic movie is the only way to describe our train trip through Northern Europe .... Yesterday we spent (8) hours traveling from Brussels to Zurich....and we had a great time.... except we didn't know that the train we took, didn't serve food or beverages ... it was a mad rush at a few stations to run off the train and buy drinks and candy bars....but somehow we made it!

Zurich is awesome...now off to Munich!

Berlin to Amsterdam to Brussels

We left Berlin via train and arrived in the marijuana capital of the world, Amsterdam.....everyone is stoned and burned out in this town.....Amazing Place!!!

I am typing this blog message from a coffee shop surrounded by pot smokers!! Thank goodness my cigar smoke keeps them away and reduces the pungent body odor from the immigrants that have taken over the city!

Berlin was interesting, especially my visit to the Hilton Steam Room....

We are headed to Brussels .......

Berlin.....Checkpoint Charlie

The (5) week journey begins in Berlin, Germany.

Kennedy was here and asked Kruschev to free Berlin, Reagon was here and asked Gorbachov to "tear the wall down"......today I am here drinking German beer and smoking Dominican cigars!

The Soviet Union has fallen......and now Berlin is a thriving capital city filled with tourists celebrating freedom! My hotel is in East Berlin!

Last year I went to China and Viet Nam, both places are also thriving with tourists.

A few years ago I spent time in Poland and Russia...also prospering with tourists dollars.

Growing up in America in the 60's and 70's it was unthinkable to imagine someday these places would be open to tourism and thriving......

Today as terroist are bombing and killing people in the Middle East...it is also unthinkable that they cant learn from history.... they would be better off putting the guns down and building a tourism industry....Tourism beats Terroism!

I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts. - Will Rogers

If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it's free! - P.J. O'Rourke

Outrageous Hurricane Katrina Fraud

Unused FEMA Trailers are the tip of the fraud iceberg!!!

$2 BILLION Dollars in fraud!
That's $2,000 Million Dollars

I just got my Florida Windstorm insurance bill.....I can't believe how high the rates are....It is ridiculous that the people that can't / don't pay for insurance...can get everything paid for by the federal government....It really makes you think....Why pay insurance?

Read the entire NY Times article......

Vancouver, my new favorite city!!!

Just got back from the Seattle - Alaska Cruise...We had a great time in Seattle, visited Pike's Fish Market, the original Starbuck's, got to see Barry Bonds strike out a few times at a Mariner game (Andy has awesome seats), and played lots of poker at my favorite hole-in-the-wall casino called the "Drift on Inn".

After the cruise, Hui and I decided to visit Vacouver, British Columbia.....Maybe because we had perfect clear and cool weather everything seemed clean and nice...but let me tell you...Vancouver is AWESOME!!! Great restaurants, easy to get around the city, a great casino, and friendly people.....I might have found a new summer hide-away to get out of the Florida Summer heat?
